What areas are injected (Botox)?
Anti-wrinkle injections target fine lines and wrinkles in the forehead, frown lines, bunny lines (lines around the nose) and crows-feet (lines around the eyes). the toxin blocks the signal from the nerves to the injected muscle, causing smoothing and relaxation of the muscle.
What are Anti-wrinkle injections?
Anti-Wrinkle or muscle relaxation injections which target fine lines and wrinkles and block the signal from the nerve to the muscle.The injected muscle cannot contract making the lines and wrinkles soften and relax.Common areas injected are the forehead, crows feet ( lines around the eyes) and frown line.Anti-wrinkle injections will not help with wrinkles caused by sun damage, gravity and static lines (lines/wrinkles visible without expression).
How long do they last?
The effects from anti-wrinkle injections which target fine lines and wrinkles can last from 3-6 months.Lines and wrinkles start to reappear as the muscle action slowly returns and needs to be treated again.Lines and wrinkles appear less severe with time as the muscle becomes less and less active.
Who can have treatment?
Anti-wrinkle Treatments can be used for treating wrinkles in men and women, however men often need slightly higher doses than women.It should not be used inPeople with infection at the proposed injection site.People who have previously had an allergic reaction to Botulinum toxin type A injections.People with muscle problems or chronic diseases affecting the muscles, such as Myasthenia Gravis, Eaton Lambert syndrome.Children under the age of 18 years.Women who are pregnant or breast feeding.It should be used cautiously in(please let the doctor know if the following applies to you)People at risk of bleeding as there is an increased risk of bruising post procedure. These include people who have blood clotting disorders such as Haemophilia, those who are taking treatments with anticoagulant medicines such as Warfarin, Heparin, Aspirin and Anti-Inflammatory medicines. Certain herbal remedies such as Gingiko Bilboa, St John’s Wort and Vitamin EPeople with excessive weakness or wasting in the muscle to be injected, such as those patients with history of Strokes or Bell’s PalsyPeople with Chronic Breathing difficulties
